The Residential Environments and Design major focuses on designing, selecting, and marketing residential spaces and products. Graduates learn the skills needed to succeed in the ever-changing housing and design industry, such as an understanding of population diversity, the range of available products, growing concerns for health, safety, energy and the natural environment, and rapid changes in technology. Recent graduates are working as certified kitchen and bath designers, showroom designers and managers, in the marketing and manufacturing of residential products such as appliances, cabinetry, tile, flooring, and home furnishings, as well as in the residential construction industry. Graduates work directly with their clients while having the opportunity to use their creative design and problem solving skills.
