Campus operations

Effective Aug. 3, all Virginia Tech locations throughout the commonwealth will transition to a level of modified operations. Learn more about the transition.

Modified operations status

Campus and offices are operational for academic/facility support services only. Sites in Alexandria, Arlington, and Falls Church are on restricted access and limited to faculty, staff, and graduate assistants who have been issued a key fob. The Executive Briefing Center is able to support meetings and events starting Aug. 3. All requests for support must be submitted a minimum of three business days in advance. Roanoke Area sites on the VTC Health Sciences and Technology Campus are operational.

The Virginia Tech Center at the Roanoke Higher Education Center is closed until further notice. The Catawba Sustainability Center is closed until further notice.

VT Alerts

When a situation arises in which the university determines that immediate action is required, a campus-wide VT Alert is issued. VT Alerts allow students, faculty, and staff who subscribe to the system to receive urgent notifications by a phone message, text message, and/or desktop alert.

In situations that occur that do not require immediate action the information may be relayed to the campus community via this webpage, email, on the Virginia Tech website, and through official Virginia Tech social media channels (see list above).
