Transfer Student Admissions

All transfer applicants must use the Common App application.

The Spring, Summer, and Fall 2021 transfer applications are now live! Please see the Available Transfer Majors page for more information about which programs are available for each entry term. All transfer applications will be submitted through the Common Application (Common App) platform this year. Detailed guidance on applying can be found on the application checklist below. The Spring transfer application deadline is October 1. The application deadline for both Summer and Fall entry is March 1.

Each year more than 1,000 students transfer to Virginia Tech from community colleges, two-year colleges, and four-year universities. As a transfer student you can pursue more than 100 academic majors, take part in more than 900 clubs and organizations, and enjoy a top-rated academic and student life experience. You are considered a transfer student if you have attempted 12 or more credit hours at any college or university after high school graduation or high school equivalency completion. View our Admissions Requirements to learn more.
