Brandy Salmon, M.B.A., Ph.D.
Associate Vice President for Innovation and Partnerships
With over 20 years of experience at the intersection of research and business, Brandy came to Virginia Tech as Executive Director for LINK, supporting a wide range of industry engagements. In her current position, Salmon continues in her leadership role at LINK while also guiding the university’s newest enterprise, LAUNCH, The Center for New Ventures.
Prior to standing up LINK at Virginia Tech, Brandy was a director with RTI’s Innovation Advisors, where she led strategic consulting engagements for federal and corporate clients and served as program manager for a global technology testing and commercialization accelerator on behalf of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Brandy joined RTI from Duke University, where she led a full spectrum of commercialization and technology transfer activities within the Office of Licensing and Ventures.
Brandy earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia, a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from Cornell University, and an M.B.A. from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business.
