Virginia Tech Talent Graduate Scholarship

Overview

The Virginia Tech Talent Graduate Scholarship supports select Virginia residents in completing graduate degrees in computer science and computer engineering.

Virginia-resident students who are completing or have recently completed their undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech or one of our official partner universities who are pursuing one of the following programs during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years are eligible for one of our awards.

Award Details

For Virginia Tech Students in the Master or Science or Master of Engineering programs:

Accelerated Masters Undergraduate/Graduate Program
Virginia-resident students who are not on an assistantship, are enrolled full-time as graduate students at either the Blacksburg or Northern Virginia campus in an accelerated 4+1 masters program in an eligible graduate degree, will receive $5,000 per term (summer, fall, and spring only) for up to three terms, provided those terms are completed by Summer 2023.

Regular Graduate Program
Virginia-resident students who are not on an assistantship, are enrolled full-time as regular graduate students at either the Blacksburg or Northern Virginia campus in an eligible graduate degree, and meet the other applicable criteria for this program will receive $3,000 per term (summer, fall, and spring only) for up to five terms, provided those terms are completed by Summer 2023.

 

For Partner University Students in one of the Master of Engineering programs:

(Our partner Universities include: Radford University, Hollins University, University of Mary Washington, James Madison University, and Christopher Newport University)

Accelerated Masters Undergraduate/Graduate Program
Virginia-resident students who are not on an assistantship, are enrolled full-time their first term as graduate students at the Northern Virginia campus in an accelerated 4+1 masters program in an eligible graduate degree, and meet the other applicable criteria for this program will receive a one-time award of $3000 with their acceptance confirmation, provided their entry term is on or before Summer 2023.

Regular Graduate Program
Virginia-resident students who are not on an assistantship, are enrolled full-time their first semester as regular graduate students the Northern Virginia campus in an eligible graduate degree, and meet the other applicable criteria for this program will receive a one-time award of $3000 with their acceptance confirmation, provided their entry term is on or before Summer 2023.

All students must apply to and be accepted by the Graduate School in one of the four degree programs.

These awards are not based on financial need but are intended to help current Virginia undergraduates plan financially for extending their enrollment 1-2 additional years to earn a graduate degree. Eligible students will be contacted if they are eligible for this award. This program may be supplemented by additional financial aid and grants provided through the academic program or other funding sources.  Students who are on a full or partial assistantship receive tuition remission and are not eligible for these awards.

Grants will be awarded by term to students who meet the criteria. If the number of applicants exceeds available funds or if more than the maximum number of students are eligible for this grant program, additional criteria will apply in the priority distribution of grants.

Tech Talent Access Program

Students who are interested in these degree programs but do not meet the prerequisite course requirements to apply, additional scholarship funds are available to support completion of needed coursework. Contact techtalent@vt.edu for information about the Tech Talent Access Program.
