April 9 update

Dining

Dining Services remains dedicated to serving on-campus students at Owens Food Court.

Effective Friday, April 10, 2020: Au Bon Pain and DXpress will close for service. Students can continue to use their services from those locations until the end of business, 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9.

Owens Food Court at Owens Hall will continue delivery and pickup options for on campus students.  They will adjust their operating hours.  Owens Food Court will be open from 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for breakfast/lunch, and 3 p.m. — 7 p.m. for dinner, seven days a week.  All students will continue to utilize the Grubhub App for orders and payment.

All times and services subject to future changes. Dining Services is continually evaluating and modifying plans and procedures on how meals are picked up and delivered.

Housing

On-site housing and dining services will be prioritized for students who meet the following criteria:

  • Students, including international students, whose health, safety, or access to food and shelter would be at risk unless they are housed on campus.
  • Students who would lose access to health care and mental health care if not housed on campus.
  • Students who can only access online learning through university infrastructure.
  • Students employed in an essential function or the support of an essential function.

Students who meet the above criteria must apply and receive approval to remain in Virginia Tech housing by completing an application in the StarRez Portal. The deadline to complete the form is Wednesday, April 1 at 5 p.m.  You will receive notification of this decision by Thursday, April 2 at 5 p.m.

All other current residential students will need to complete their move-out by Sunday, April 5 at 5 p.m.

Students who leave campus or who are not approved for campus housing will receive a $800 rebate. Unused flex dollars, commuter cash, flex additions and dining dollars will rollover to the fall semester. Students not returning to Virginia Tech in the fall will be refunded this amount.
