General Biosciences is the first-year, gateway program for entry into the Biological Sciences (Biology) major, which is offered by the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Science. If you are interested in majoring in biology, you should select General Biosciences (GBSC) when completing the application. Students who complete the General Bioscience gateway curriculum may also be prepared to enter several majors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences or the College of Natural Resources and the Environment. Entry into certain majors, including Biological Sciences, may require students to complete certain courses with a minimum grade, and/or achieve a minimum GPA in their first year.
