The Yates Project

Mission

The Yates Project supports the university’s diversity recruitment initiatives by targeting populations that are historically under represented at Virginia Tech which include students that identify as Black or African American, Hispanic and/or Latino, Native American and Indigenous; students from lower socioeconomic status; college access and pipeline programs; and students from rural areas of Appalachia.

What We Do

Yates Ambassadors have a presence at most large-scale recruitment programs on campus.  In addition, they coordinate visits and deliver presentations to special groups and high schools. All sessions are given from a student’s perspective and genuine. In addition, Yates Ambassadors are well involved within the greater Virginia Tech community and are active in a wide array of activities and events based on each individual’s interest.
