Dannette Gomez Beane, Ph.D.

Dannette Gomez Beane currently serves as the Director of Recruitment and Operations for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Virginia Tech. Prior to this role, Dannette served the Graduate School as Director of Recruitment and Diversity Initiatives and as a presidentially appointed, Inclusion Coordinator. Her first position at Virginia Tech was as the Coordinator for Outreach and Career Initiatives for the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech. She has held several positions in public service such as a community counselor and employment specialist for Total Action for Progress and the Department of Social Services, Assistant Director at College Summit, Inc. and program leader for the Boys and Girls Club of America. Dannette began her career in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Hollins University of Roanoke, VA, where she also received her Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies (2002).
Dannette is a member of American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), National Career Development Association (NCDA), the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals (NAGAP), the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), and the American Counseling Association (ACA) with whom she has published or presented nationally. Her research includes advocacy, access, and success for marginalized communities. Dannette received her Master's degree (2006) and Ph.D. (2018) in counselor education from Virginia Tech.
