Virginia Tech turns 150
Virginia Tech will celebrate 150 years of impact as we look forward to the next 150 years.
Since its founding in 1872, Virginia Tech has served the citizens of the commonwealth, the nation, and the world.
In 2022, we will reflect on our history and traditions and celebrate the positive impact of the university. Inspired by the Beyond Boundaries visioning process, we claim our role as a leader in education, research, and innovation, and look forward to the next 150 years.
The Sesquicentennial Steering Committee has launched the planning process for year-long celebration from Fall 2021 through Fall 2022. Rosemary Blieszner, Alumni Distinguished Professor and Senior Fellow, Center for Gerontology, and Anne Khademian, Presidential Fellow and former director of the School of Public and International Affairs, serve as co-chairs of the steering committee.
For 150 years, Virginia Tech has prepared generations of leaders, wrestled with the toughest problems, and engaged communities in developing solutions to improve the human condition across Virginia and around the world. Plan to join your fellow Hokies for a celebration of Virginia Tech in 2021-22.
