Visiting Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech FYI

Solitude

Starting as a humble log cabin in 1801, Virginia Tech’s Solitude is its oldest structure.

It grew to become home to two Virginia governors and Robert Preston, who donated the land on which Virginia Tech now stands.

Solitude, which has served in various capacities through the years, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and named a Virginia Historic Landmark in 1989.
